The Art of Reimagining: Culture, Universities, Cities

What times we are living through! We hope that you and your communities are well and getting through what has been and remains a very challenging time.
Patrick Lonergan and Catherine Morris invite you to join them in a webinar chaired by Dan Carey to engage with a panel around the topic of Capital of Culture: how can universities engage in practice-based arts research and teaching? What are the challenges for Capitals of Culture amidst a global pandemic? Is what we want of cities changed forever? What role does culture and the arts have on the development of local, pan-European, and international networks of solidarity? We will be joined by ProfessorFloraCarrijn, Provost of KU Leuven and heads the Board of the University Network for European Capitals of Culture, Eithne Verling Director of the Museum of Galway, Karsten Xuerebled preparations for the European Capital of Culture in Malta (2011-2017)andSean Ryder Head of the School for English and the Creative Arts at NUI Galway. Each speaker will talk for five minutes and then we will open the floor to questions and discussion.The webinar is a launch for the University Network of European Capitals of Culture Spring online edition The Art of Reimagining edited by Patrick Lonergan and Catherine Morris. In this online journal that takes the place of the conference that would have happened in Galway in 2020.
