Faculty around and within Micronations

Greeting words by the Dean of the Faculty around and within Micronations

It is a great pleasure and honor for me to become the first dean of the Faculty around and within Micronations at the University of Užupis. I think we are filling a real void in the world of science here. The phenomenon of micronations, which has existed for centuries and has grown enormously since the second half of the 20th century, as well as booming since the turn of the millennium, is a fascinating aspect of human interaction that has so far been largely ignored by research.

The phenomenon of micronations poses very elementary questions to humanity. How do we want to shape our social life together? What is a state? What is a state allowed to do? Do people live for rules or are rules for people? What makes a government legitimate? Can human coexistence work better in large or in small political units?

Let us face the fundamental questions of human coexistence, let us explore the world of micronations.

My best greetings – depending on where I am right now – from Hamburg or Schleswig-Holstein
